COAL TOWNSHIP - The Shamokin Area School Board officially accepted the resignation of the district's head football coach Tuesday.
Dan Foor submitted his letter of resignation last week, ending a four-season stint in which Indians teams went 16-30, including 2-9 this season.
It was approved 6-0 as part of a block vote on 20 personnel items, including the resignation of his wife, Kendra, as junior high wrestling cheerleading adviser.
No board members spoke about the ex-coach's resignation during the meeting.
The district is now advertising for a new head coach.
Despite the overall record, the 2011 Indians under Foor were Class AAA District IV champions and won a state playoff game, something no team in the school's history had achieved before.
Foor was laid off in February from his position as coordinator of specially funded programs, and in resigning is focused on seeking steady employment and another position elsewhere.
