Snow emergency in Kulpmont

KULPMONT - Borough mayor Bernard Novakoski announced a snow emergency is in effect from 8 a.m. Monday evening until further notice due to Tuesday's forecasted snowstorm.

Under the snow emergency, parking along Route 61 (Chestnut Street) is prohibited until the snow stops and PennDOT can plow the snow back to the curb. Violators will be ticketed and/or have the vehicles towed at the owner's expense.

Snow ordinance in Marion Heights

MARION HEIGHTS - Borough council reminds residents about ordinances as they pertains to snow and winter weather.

According to the borough's ordinances, anyone who plows snow must haul it away. It must not be pushed into streets or onto pavements. Also, all residents must have their pavements shoveled with an at least 36-inch path after each snowfall ends. Anyone who fails to follow the rules will be cited.

Also, due to the numerous complaints of inconsiderate plowers, council is working on a plow permit ordinance with a $25 fee, set to be enacted at the April meeting.
