KULPMONT - The Kulpmont Knights of Columbus will sponsor the second annual Wine Fest at Holy Angels picnic grounds from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.
The Knights expect participation by 12 wineries, 10 or more non-food dealers and many food vendors.
David Shinskie, grand knight of the Kulpmont Knights of Columbus council, reported brother Knights are actively involved in planning and will be working at the event. Among the major sponsors of the wine festival is Art Catino, of Mount Carmel, owner of Catino's Italian Specialties and Catino Vino.
Wineries that will be represented are Bastress Mountain Winery, Buddy Boy Winery and Vineyards, Moon Dancer Vineyards, Benigna's Creek, Armstrong Valley Vineyards & Winery, Brookmere Winery, Seven Mountains, Starr Hill, Vineyards at Hershey, Red Shale Ridge Vineyards and Spyglass Ridge Winery.
Entertainment will be provided by The Fobias and other local favorites.
Those who purchase tickets ($15 pre-sale or $20 at the event) will be entitled to a complimentary wine glass. They will be able to sample and purchase wine from the wineries that will be represented at the festival.
New for 2013 is a VIP ticket for $25. The VIP, which has limited availability, includes early entry onto the grounds and an event t-shirt.
Tickets can be purchased ahead of time at the Holy Angels rectory (373-1221), from Kulpmont council (373-1691), Catino's (339-2474) or by calling 259-0970.
Tickets will also be available during normal business hours at these Kulpmont businesses: Scicchitano's Pizza, Archie's Shoe Store. Shimock's Furniture, Beyond Beauty, Just Hair by Dottie, and the Difference by Colleen. VIP tickets are only available through Catino or John at 274-2014.
Designated drivers will be admitted for $7 each, but they will not receive wine glasses. No one under 21 will be admitted (identification is required), and no outside food or drink is allowed. For additional info, go to www.catinos.com.
