Program on raptor birds planned
BARNESVILLE - Paul Zeph, director of conservation for the Audubon Society in Pennsylvania, will present a program on raptors - hawks, eagles and ospreys - at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Locust Lake amphitheater.
Zeph will explain why tens of thousands of these birds migrate southwest each fall along the ridges of Pennsylvania and conservation work that is under way to protect them.
The program will be held "shine only."
Blessing for teachers and students
MOUNT CARMEL - All teachers and students from CCD (public school) and Catholic schools who are members of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church are invited by the Rev. Francis Karwacki, pastor, to the 11 a.m. Mass Sunday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 47 S. Market St., for a special blessing for the new school year.
Book signing at All Home Days
ELYSBURG - KristaLyn A. Vetovich, of Paxinos, will sign copies of her book, "Pure Fyre," from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 1 and 2 and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 3 at the 93rd annual All Home Days, held in Ralpho Township Park.
Vetovich's novel depicts the power of a dream.
