Cpl. Robert J. Clews, a 2007 graduate of North Schuylkill High School, is serving with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. Clews enlisted in January 2011.
Upon completing basic training, he was stationed at Fort Drum, N.Y., where he resides with his wife, the former Kelly Jo Keneitz.
Clews' achievements include earning the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, five Army Achievement medals, an Army Commendation Medal and successful completion of light fighter school and air assault school. While deployed, he earned the Combat Infantry Badge. He was recently named Soldier of the Month and NCO of the Quarter.
Clews is a son of Suzanne and Jack Clews, of Ashland.
