MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place May 15 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court June 24 in Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n Samantha L. Joseph, 20, of 225 E. Avenue, Mount Carmel, waived to court charges of driving under the influence of marijuana and cannabis, unauthorized transfer or use of registration, driving an unregistered vehicle and speeding relating to a Feb. 15 traffic stop on Route 61 near Strong.
The charges were filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Joshua Pastucka.
n Albert J. Goodlunas III, 38, of 553 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, waived to court charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
Goodlunas was charged by Kulpmont Patrolman Patrick McAndrew with punching Ronald Sobol in the face in the 900 block of Chestnut Street on March 12.
n David J. Bills, 28, of 921 Spruce St., Kulpmont, waived to court charges of possessing a firearm while being a former convict and possession of drug paraphernalia involving a Dec. 14 incident at his home.
The charges were filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Joshua Pastucka.
Bills also waived to court charges of possession of synthetic marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a May 16, 2012, incident at his residence.
The charges were filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Cade Holden.
n Matthew A. Eckley, 25, of Frackville, waived to court charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, careless driving and a red light violation.
Eckley was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Daniel Politza in connection with a Feb. 9 incident at the intersection of Routes 61 and 54 near the former Boylan's Service Station.
