KULPMONT - A young borough mother is starting a toy and clothing drive for victims of a tornado that killed 24 people, including 10 children, and injuried more in Oklahoma.
Jessica Mirarchi, 29, said toys, stuffed animals and children's clothing can be dropped off in the bar area at East End Fire Company in the borough between Monday and June 8. Volunteers will gather the donations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 8 at the fire company and make arrangements to have them sent to Oklahoma.
Asked what prompted her to start the drive, Mirarchi said, "I feel a need to help them. I have two boys, ages 5 and 2, and I would want help if I was in their position."
Mirarchi, who urged everyone to pray for the victims, said anyone wishing to donate items or volunteer with the drive can contact her at 850-2701.
