Lifetree to discuss the good life
ELYSBURG - How to experience a full and satisfying life will be discussed at Lifetree Cafe from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elysburg Presbyterian Church, 320 W. Valley Ave.
The program, titled "How to Live Before You Die: Embracing Life to the Fullest," features an exclusive filmed interview with Sasha Vukelja, who as a young girl escaped from communist Yugoslavia and emigrated to the United States. Vukelja, now an oncologist, discusses helping patients who are facing an uncertain future to find hope and a positive attitude.
"We can all use a dose of encouragement," says Lifetree representative Craig Cable. "This program provides practical tips for having a happy, fulfilled life."
Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Snacks and beverages are available.

Entries sought for parade
SHAMOKIN - Any individual or group wanting to participate in the Anthracite Heritage Festival of the Arts parade is asked to submit their registration by Friday.
The parade will be held on Friday, May 24, starting at 6:30 p.m. Participants will line up on Water Street and travel from Water to Rock Street, Rock to Independence Street, and Independence to Market Street, ending at Market and Chestnut Street. The theme of this year's parade will be "The Anthracite Region: A Great Place to Live, Work and Play." Cash prizes will be awarded in the following categories: best representation of the area, most creative/decorative, best dressed/costumes and best of show.
