MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court May 20 in Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n Thomas D. Duran, 24, of 733 Scott St., Kulpmont, pleaded guilty to careless driving and was ordered to pay a fine of $112. Four counts of recklessly endangering another person and one count each of reckless driving and criminal mischief were withdrawn.

Duran was charged by Trooper Todd Leiby of state police at Stonington in connection with incidents on Jan. 16, 2011, on Routes 125, 2046 and 3004 in West Cameron Township.

n James R. Edmondson, 38, of 464 Main St., Ashland, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive in a single lane, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and failure to wear a seat belt involving a Dec. 15 accident on Route 125 in East Cameron Township.

The charges were filed by Trooper Mark Adams of state police at Stonington.

n Courtney Lynn, 22, of 50 N. Maple St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for 12 months.

The charge was filed by Mount Carmel Patrolman Matthew Dillman in connection with a March 5, 2012, incident at her residence.

n Mary Ellen Vincenzes, 51, of 138 S. Oak St., Apt. 2A, Mount Carmel, waived to court three counts each of theft by deception and bad checks.

Vincenzes was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Kevin Katch with issuing three bad checks totaling $490 to Matlow's clothing store on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6.
