SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Shamokin Township Roadmaster Jon Clements reported road signs for Meadowview Christian Academy will be installed before the new school year.
When asked about the status of the signs at Wednesday's supervisors' meeting, Clements said signs showing a bus stop and school zone will be installed along Tulip Road near the academy.
Clements said a culvert will be replaced in the area of the school, but a drainage problem involving a water pipe isn't the township's responsibility.
The roadmaster said milling will occur on Birch Road in the near future.
Supervisors Greg Rachau, John Klinger and Paul Rapp agreed to meet with Clements to further discuss roof repairs needed at the township municipal building that could cost approximately $30,000.
Solicitor Jim Bathgate said several properties in Irish Valley sold at a recent county judicial sale will add tax revenue for the township.
Bathgate reminded residents that Sept. 9 is the deadline to submit applications to have their land added to the township's agricultural security area, a tool for protecting farmland from the urbanization of rural areas.
He said a hearing to discuss the agricultural security area will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, before the supervisors' regular meeting.
The solicitor said a township resident will be cited for violating a junk ordinance. The citation will be filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III.
