HARRISBURG - In 2012, area lottery winners claimed $2.9 million in prizes of $1,000 or more from the Pennsylvania Lottery.
The final total, counting December's winners from the Pennsylvania Lottery website, is $2,906,669.50. The month's biggest instant game winners were Michael R. Ulrich, of Coal Township, and David J. Rainis, of Ashland, winning $10,000 each on scratch-off tickets.
In daily drawings for the number games. Phyllis C. Sherman claimed $10,000 in December, winning four prizes of $2,500 each in the Big 4 game.
