June 1 - A delay in the trial for former teacher Victor Swaboski was granted as his attorney attempted to have the aggravated assault by vehicle counts withdrawn, challenging the seriousness of some of the injuries.
June 2 - Police were searching for two individuals in the case of a home invasion robbery of a 79-year-old Paxinos man. Stolen were his wallet containing up to $2,500 in cash and more than 300 prescription pills.
June 4 - 940 people bought tickets for a "Save the Ambulance" fundraiser, raising $10,000 for the Elysburg Ambulance Company to help keep it in business.
June 5 - Two individuals were charged with stealing more than $12,500 in jewelry from the residence of longtime Shamokin councilman R. Craig Rhoades and his wife, then trying to sell it to a local pawn shop.
June 7 - Four individuals were charged with theft after stealing electric motors for vehicles from a vacant property. The group was apprehended on their way to a recycling center to sell the motors.
June 7 - Northumberland County Prison lieutenant Timothy Zerbe, who ran for sheriff in the last election, resigned for health reasons, but amid allegations he was caught kissing a female inmate in a prison closet.
June 14 - David W. Dorsett, 19, of Coal Township, a recent graduate of Shamokin Area Middle/High School, was killed in a rollover accident on Anthracite Road, Zerbe Township. Three of the four other passengers in the vehicle were injured in the crash.
June 15 - City officials worked quickly to tear down a North Shamokin Street building that had been a thorn in the side for a few years after the building partially collapsed.
June 16 - Three people were left homeless after a fires destroyed one half of a double home on North Oak Street, Mount Carmel. Fire officials said the blaze was accidental in nature.
June 18 - North Shore Railroad, the company that operates the SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority, was sold to its 12 employees.
June 19 - After much financial wrangling budget cuts and more moves, the Shamokin Area School Board passed a $28.8 million balanced budget, with the return of a dozen employees previously furloughed, the elimination of the district's K-4 program and the district's food service program taken over by private enterprise.
June 21 - The Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force arrested four people in Sunbury in connection with a drug bust that seized more than 350 bags of heroin, the largest single heroin bust in city history.
June 23 - More than 1,100 runners participated in the first-ever Filthy Fun Mud Run at the Irish Valley Motocross Park, Paxinos.
June 26 - Montie Peters, chairman of the Northumberland County Planning Commission, resigned his chairmanship, but county commissioner Stephen Bridy and Vinny Clausi said it was not enough and called for his resignation from the board. Minority commissioner Rick Shock called it a "witch hunt."
June 26 - The U.S. Court of Appeals upheld a ruling that would not stop eminent domain proceedings against the residents of Centralia who do not want to leave their homes, despite a mine fire burning underneath.
June 28 - Kulpmont resident Jeffrey "Alheat" Tripp was indicted by a federal grand jury, along with a Bloomsburg man, on charges they traveled to New York to pick up narcotics to be distributed in a three-county area.
June 29 - Local physician Dr. Raymond J. Kraynak, a member of the Mount Carmel Area School Board, was charged with driving under the influence following an incident over Memorial Day weekend when he allegedly stopped at a DUI checkpoint, thinking there was a traffic accident, and offered his medical assistance.
June 30 - Thousands lined the streets of Mount Carmel for the annual Six-County Firemen's Association Parade, held in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of Mount Carmel's founding.
