Henry Hynoski made his debut in the National Football League in 2011.

But he put his cleats all over 2012.

It included a championship run, a burger and a stellar sophomore season capped by his first NFL touchdown.

The new year started with Hynoski, a Southern Columbia graduate, and his New York Giants' teammates cruising through the NFC playoffs.

The Giants beat Atlanta, 24-2, Green Bay, 37-20, and San Francisco, 20-17 in overtime, to earn a trip to Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.

That's when Hynomania went into full gear.

The Wayside Inn introduced a "Hyno Burger" - two quarter-pound patties topped with cheese, bacon, onion rings and barbecue sauce.

Several area mayors, board chairmen and state officials proclaimed the day before the Super Bowl as "Henry Hynoski Day."

Even more banners from businesses and fans were put up to support Hynoski and the Giants.

And they came through.

Hynoski, who won four state titles with Southern Columbia, played a key role in New York's biggest win of the year. The rookie fullback had two catches for 19 yards and a key fumble recovery in the Giants' 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots.

Hynoski enjoyed a championship parade down Broadway in Manhattan with teammates and an event-filled offseason - including having a street named after him in his Elysburg hometown - before returning to the Giants for his second season.

This year, the Giants were unable to recapture the magic that accompanied their 2011 season. New York looked to have a stranglehold on the NFC East but struggled down the stretch and finished 9-7. Despite the winning season, the Giants won't be in this year's playoffs.

Hynoski, however, enjoyed considerable success and a greater role in the Giants' offense.

He finished the season with five carries for 20 yards and 11 catches for 50 yards - the final catch a 1-yarder for a touchdown in Sunday's regular season finale. The TD came on Hyno's 24th birthday.

Hynoski finished fourth among fullbacks in fan voting for the Pro Bowl, and seems poised to continue his career with the Giants in 2013.
