MOUNT CARMEL - After a year of work, Family Home Medical Hospice has achieved We Honor Veterans Partner Level Three.

Partner Level One was reached in July 2011 and Partner Level Two was reached in February.

We Honor Veterans is a national program developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veteran Affairs. It is designed to educate community hospices, state hospice organizations and VA facilities on the unique needs of our nation's dying veterans.

Family Home Medical Hospice is learning how to better serve veterans through education on end-of-life challenges they may experience. Through education and understanding of these unique needs, Family Home Medical Hospice will be better equipped to provide quality of care for veterans and their families, the company reports.

Family Home is trying to raise awareness through community outreach and education. A veteran-to-veteran volunteer program has been established for its patients and the company has partnered with a local VA Medical Center and other hospices and veteran organizations for membership in the VA Community and Hospice Partnership.

Family Home offers special thanks to Kathleen (Stacy) Stancavage for her continued assistance, involvement and support.
