RANSHAW - Mother Cabrini Church in Shamokin has finalized plans for its 19th annual parish picnic to be held June 13 through June 15 at the Ranshaw Civic Association grounds.

Hours for the picnic will be 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 2 to 10 p.m. Sunday.

The picnic, which will be held rain or shine, is one of the biggest annual events of the parish and gives every parishioner an opportunity to gather and work together as a family and build a community of spirit.

Parish festivities began with a pre-picnic cottage cheese and potato pierogi sale held at the church shed on Webster Street and the sale of 2014 church lottery calendars. A bake sale will be held at the church hall after the 4 p.m. Mass Saturday, June 14, and after all Masses Sunday, June 15.

Picnic committee members said outside food and beverages and pets except service animals are prohibited on the picnic grounds.

Food that will be available at the picnic include potato cakes, potato pierogi, Polish pigeons, hamburgers, hot dogs, haluski, sausage hoagies, funnel cakes, french fries, ice cream, sno-cones and James' Pizza.

Plenty of refreshments will be for sale and games for adults and children will be available.

A raffle stand, seasonal lottery tree/decoration and a "prizes galore" theme basket tent will be at the picnic.

Soundwave will provide music from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Shoreliners will perform from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The public is invited to attend the parish picnic.
