SHAMOKIN - The Northumberland County Council for the Arts is pleased to announce that it's time once again for the annual holiday art auction.
This is a major fundraiser for the gallery, which features many wonderful items for gift-giving, including original paintings and prints, photography and fine handcrafts.
"We are very pleased with the high quality of the donated items and the generosity of the artists in the region," said gallery director Claude Harrington. "We even have a piece from former gallery director Chet Davis."
Committee members will host an opening reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the gallery, which is located inside the Arts Center at Eighth and Arch streets in Shamokin (the former Shamokin High School) on the lower level. The event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
The event will be a silent auction with forms available at the reception. The highest bidder will be contacted Dec. 14 after the end of the show to make arrangements for pickup and payment. Those who cannot attend the reception can view items and place a bid during regular gallery hours, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.
