TREVORTON - Supervisors have ratified a new contract with Zerbe Township's two unionized municipal employees.
On a 2-0 vote Monday, the board approved a six-year contract for sewer plant worker Ed Reed and street department worker Jerry Bulchie.
Supervisor Mike Mazer said Thursday the contract calls for a 2 percent raise for each year of the contract and some changes to the health care package to help maintain the township's costs.
Mazer and township secretary Ellen Zerbe were not in the office Thursday and therefore could not provide details of what the men are paid.
Supervisors had met with the employees and a representative from their union, AFSCME Council 13, Local 2933, on Jan. 21, to reach the agreement. Mazer and Supervisor Michael Schwartz then voted Monday. Supervisor Gene Geise was not at the meeting.
The township's third municipal worker is not a union member.
In other business, the board approved the filing of the annual Municipal Wasteload Management Chapter 94 report with the Department of Environmental Protection.
Schwartz and Mazer reported the township received an invitation from Coal Township to participate in a Feb. 19 meeting for a development study on a regional police force. Both supervisors said they would attend.
