Mt. Carmel declares snow emergency
MOUNT CARMEL - Borough officials have announced a snow emergency today. Parking is prohibited on Third Street from Birch to Market, Avenue from Poplar to Market, Market Street from Avenue to Fifth and Fifth from Market to Pine.
All parking restrictions will be in place until after the storm so PennDOT can plow to the curb. Parking will be prohibited on Oak Street from Avenue to Sixth Streets from 6 to 10 a.m. Thursday so the street can be cleared.
Midnight Riders Ministries to visit
SHAMOKIN - Midnight Riders Ministries will be presented at the What Not Café, 139 E. Independent St. (next to the Salvation Army thrift store) from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Midnight Riders was started in 2012 by the Rev. Jerry Conley and his wife, Susan Yocum Conley. There motto is "Taking it to the streets."
Rev. Conley will be sharing his story of how God changed his life from doing dope to preaching hope.
The couple raise money to help Teen Challenge, a faith-based Christian rehabilitation facility. All are welcome and there will be free refreshments.

Food pantry distribution
MOUNT CARMEL - The Mount Carmel Borough Food Pantry will hold its monthly distribution, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Notary Shop, 215 S. Oak St. for borough residents who have signed up in the past. Residents of the Mount Carmel Mid-Rise are asked to meet in the lobby for 8:45 a.m. Please bring a bag.
