KULPMONT - A former deliveryman for Shimock's Furniture is accused of keeping approximately $3,700 from a customer instead of turning it over to his employer.

Brad M. Nahodil, 33, of 618 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin, is in Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury after being arraigned Thursday on felonies of theft and receiving stolen property.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Joshua Pastucka, Nahodil delivered furniture to a Shamokin area home in early November and received payment of $3,724.80 in cash from the customer. The customer told police Nahodil did not have the white copy of the bill to mark it paid so they had Nahodil fill out a sticky note marking the paid balance of $3,724.80. The note was initialed by Nahodil, police said.

But Nahodil never gave the money to any of the office managers at Shimock's Furniture and stopped showing up for work.

John Shimock III, owner of the furniture store, said he attempted to contact Nahodil numerous times by telephone about obtaining the money, but Nahodil never replied. Shimock said he also sent a certified letter to Nahodil, which he received and signed, but still never repaid the money.

Nahodil, who was subsequently fired from Shimock's, was unable to post $25,000 cash bail at his arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
