Playground appreciation party set
KULPMONT - An appreciation party for those who helped create the new playground at the Terry-Miriello complex is scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday at the new East End Fire Company social hall.
Joseph Cesari, chairman of the Kulpmont Cruise Committee, who has led fundraising efforts for the playground project, said those who contributed time, equipment or money to the project are welcome. He asks on behalf of the Kulpmont Cruise Committee Kulpmont residents who appreciate the efforts to make a small donation to cover the cost of the appreciation party.

Winter clothing giveaway slated
MOUNT CARMEL - There will be a winter clothing giveaway at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church hall, 47 S. Market St. (senior action center) from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday. Coats, hats, scarves and gloves will be available for the needy.
School board meeting set
COAL TOWNSHIP - Shamokin Area School Board will conduct its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Nov. 20. The work session begins at 7 p.m. in the board conference room followed immediately by the voting meeting.
Report card distribution scheduled
COAL TOWNSHIP - The Shamokin Area Middle / High School will be distributing report cards to students Tuesday.
Urgent care center to hold open house
DANVILLE - Geisinger Careworks Urgent Care walk-in clinic will sponsor an open house in the Danville Weis Market Plaza at 604 Continental Blvd., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The first 100 people in attendance will receive a free gift at the event, which will feature children's activities, a live radio remote by 94KX (WQKX) and refreshments. Everyone may also register to win a free iPad.
The clinic will be staffed from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. seven days a week. No appointment is necessary.
