Velveeta meal recalled for undeclared allergen

CARLISLE - Following a recall by Kraft Foods, GIANT Food Stores LLC and Martin's Food Markets announced it removed from shelves Velveeta Cheesy Skillet Singles Ultimate Cheeseburger Mac due to an undeclared allergen, soy, on the ingredient label.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. This product is safe to consume for individuals who do not suffer from a soy allergy.

The product affected is Velveeta Cheesy Skillet Singles Ultimate Cheeseburger Mac, 9 oz., with a UPC number of 2100004329m and with sell by dates of March 2, 2014 through Oct. 23, 2014.

No illnesses have been reported as of Monday.

Symptoms of food allergies typically appear from within a few minutes to two hours after a person has eaten the food to which he is allergic.

Allergic reactions include hives, flushed skin or rash, tingling or itchy sensation in the mouth, swelling, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, coughing or wheezing, dizziness, lightheadedness, difficulty breathing and loss of consciousness.

Customers who have purchased the product should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipts for a full refund.
