Stolen car hit-run
ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington have accused Joseph C. Delaney, 18, of 527 Webster St., Ranshaw, with the theft of a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze that crashed Saturday morning along Route 890 near Ferster Hill Road.
Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered road at 6:32 a.m. while traveling south. The Cruze hit several mailboxes and newspaper boxes on the south shoulder before crossing the road and striking an embankment on the left shoulder. The vehicle crossed the road again and hit a mailbox and fence on the right shoulder before fleeing the scene.
The theft of the Cruze from the home of its owner, David M. Poe, 49, of 834 Susquehanna Ave., Sunbury, was being investigated by Sunbury police, state police said earlier Saturday. Late in the day, state police reported Delaney's arrest. They said he was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Shamokin. Bail was set at $10,000.
