Barletta named to public-private panel
WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta (R-11) was named Thursday as a member of a special panel of the House Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee to focus on the use of and opportunities for public-private partnerships, known as "P3s," across transportation, economic development, public buildings, water and maritime infrastructure and equipment.
Barletta has hosted roundtable discussions with private-sector interests in New York and Washington, D.C., to discuss partnering with the federal government.
The panel will examine the current state of P3s in the United States to identify the role they play in development and delivery of transportation and infrastructure projects in the U.S. and on the economy; if and how they enhance delivery and management of transportation and infrastructure projects beyond the capabilities of government agencies or the private sector acting independently; and how to balance the needs of the public and private sectors when considering, developing and implementing P3 projects.
Parade committee to meet
SHAMOKIN - The Fifth Ward Parade Committee will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Knights of Columbus, Rock and Independence streets.
The Camaro convertible car raffle and initial parade divisions will be discussed.
All are invited.
