SHAMOKIN - A lasagna dinner is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at the Knights of Columbus to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's fight against childhood cancer.

Area residents will have the opportunity to help support the lifesaving mission of one of the world's premier pediatric cancer research centers by attending the this event at the civic organization, 400 E. Independence St.

The donation is $9 for adults and $6 for children under age of 12.

The dinner will include lasagna, bread/butter, salad, dessert and a beverage. Patrons may eat in or take out.

Tickets can be obtained by calling 570-648-3623. Limited tickets will be available at the door.

This third annual lasagna dinner will make a difference in helping the children of St. Jude fight cancer and other deadly diseases. The hospital has played a pivotal role in pushing U.S. pediatric cancer survival rates from 20 to 80 percent overall, and is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted to children. One of the goals of this event is to raise $1,500 which would provide one day of chemotherapy for a child suffering from leukemia or other forms of cancer.
