William J. Kuzo, of Elysburg, has been elected president and CEO of UNB Corp and its wholly owned subsidiary, UNB Bank, succeeding Frank S. Morrison who held the positions since 2001.
He has been the successor designee for two years while holding the position of senior vice-president and assistant CEO.
Born and raised in Mount Carmel Township, Kuzo is a son of the late George and Mary Kuzo.
He is a 1984 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School and a 1988 graduate of Bloomsburg University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
He started his banking career with the former First National Trust Bank, now Susquehanna Bank, and worked his way through the ranks rising to the position of vice-president and lending officer.
In 2004, he joined the Union National Bank of Mount Carmel, now UNB Bank. He has held key senior management positions and since 2008 has been the highest ranking officer next to Morrison.
Kuzo further advanced his banking background by graduating from the Pennsylvania Bankers Association's Central Atlantic "Advanced School of Banking" in 1993, "School of Commercial Lending" in 1997 and its "Executive Leadership Program" in 2012.
He also holds various accreditations in bank loan review and family planning. In addition to his banking background, Kuzo is a 2002 graduate of the Central Susquehanna Valley Leadership Program.
"Bill has what it takes to head a community bank such as ours. His banking skills are outstanding, but more so, as a native of the area, he knows and understands the market area and the customer needs," said Morrison
UNB Bank is headquartered in Mount Carmel with a branch in Numidia. Morrison has been retained as a consultant to the president and will remain chairman of the board. Other directors are Stephen Slaton, Robert S. Nestor, Guy W. Schlesinger, Lon D. Morrison, Robert K. Varano and Kuzo.
