WEIGH SCALES - No one suffered serious injuries in a scary crash Friday afternoon in which a pickup truck went off Route 61 and crashed into a snowbank in the parking lot between Miller's Gas and Oil and Clark's Feed.
The southbound crew-cab pickup was driven by Dylan Blum, 21, of 1118 Green St., Harrisburg, said Ralpho Township Sgt. Chris Kreisher.
While initial reports at the scene indicated the driver may have suffered a medical condition that caused the crash, Kreisher said later that was not the case, and that his investigation continues.
Blum was taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for observation, he said.
Originally, it was reported that a passenger grabbed the wheel when Blum became incapacitated.
The vehicle was traveling south when the incident occurred. It crossed both northbound lanes and struck a sign and a fire hydrant before mounting the pile of snow, which appeared to be 5 to 6 feet high. It also narrowly missed a utility pole.
Kreisher said there were four passengers.
Elysburg ambulance and Elysburg and Overlook firefighters responded, as did local fire police.
