SUNBURY - A Shamokin woman charged in several drug-related cases has pleaded guilty and will be sentenced Tuesday.
Sarah Ann Karpinski, 24, pleaded guilty Tuesday to four felony counts of possession with intent to deliver heroin and cocaine and one count of possession of a controlled substance. She also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of retail theft. Additional charges are expected not to be prosecuted at sentencing.
Karpinski will be sentenced at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday by Northumberland County President Judge Robert B. Sacavage.
Karpinski, who is free on bail, was charged by members of the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force in connection with five drug deals involving a confidential informant. She also was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Matthew Hashuga with stealing $151.34 in merchandise from Walmart SuperCenter along Route 61 on Aug. 15.
Karpinski, who was seven months pregnant at the time of her arrest in September, and her boyfriend, Matthew Bird, 25, of Coal Township, were charged by Ralpho Township Patrolman Chris Grow with possession with intent to deliver heroin, delivery of heroin, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal conspiracy involving an Aug. 16 incident at Dunkin' Donuts in which they allegedly sold one bag of heroin to an informant for $20.
Karpinski was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Bryan Primerano with delivery of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and criminal use of a communication facility relating to a Sept. 8 incident in Shamokin in which she allegedly sold cocaine to an informant for $60.
The defendant was charged by Grow and Primerano with possession with intent to deliver heroin, delivery of heroin, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with an Aug. 20 incident in Dunkin' Donuts in which she allegedly sold one bag of heroin to an informant for $40.
Grow and Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan charged Karpinski with possession with intent to deliver heroin, delivery of heroin, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges relate to an Aug. 13 incident in the parking lot at Walmart in which Karpinski allegedly sold two bags of heroin to an informant.
The fifth drug-related complaint filed by Grow and Primerano charges Karpinski with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with a Feb. 26 incident in the 400 block of South Shamokin Street in which the defendant allegedly possessed three bags of heroin.
