MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court Dec. 3 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n Johna L. Swank, 40, of 223 S. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, waived to court two counts of criminal conspiracy and one count each of false reports to police and cruelty.
The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Patrolman David Donkochik following an investigation into an abandoned dog incident at her home Sept. 7 and 8.
n Anel Ortiz-Velez, 37, of Benton, waived to court charges of access device fraud, theft by deception and identity theft.
Ortiz-Velez was charged by Trooper David Townsend of state police at Stonington with using a Discover credit card belonging to Danielle A. Fritz, of Danville, to purchase several items totaling $1,421.83 between Sept. 19 and Sept. 23.
n Mandy S. Hook, 32, of 301 N. Sixth St., Apt. 301, Kulpmont, waived to court charges of theft, receiving stolen property and retail theft filed by Kulpmont Police Chief Richard Wilson III.
Hook is accused of stealing $389.88 in scratch-off Lottery tickets from Turkey Hill Minit Market on Chestnut Street between Oct. 19 and Oct. 21 while she was employed at the store.
n Peter L. Stanish III, 50, of Parkerford, pleaded guilty to driving under suspension and speeding and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totaling $409.
Stanish was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Daniel Politza in connection with an Aug. 8 incident at the intersection of Route 901 and Main Street in Locust Gap.
