SHAMOKIN - The visually stunning works of photographer Connie Renn of Paxinos are on display in Shamokin at Susquehanna Bank thanks to a partnership with the Northumberland County Council for the Arts and Humanities.

Renn began taking pictures with an old Brownie Hawkeye when she was about 12. Her family was large - eight children - and took very few pictures. That made her cherish the pictures she took all the more and strengthened her resolve to better document her family's important moments. Much of her photographic work is centered around her own family.

Nature is her second passion - landscapes, objects, floral and more. Renn sees the beauty that surrounds her and reaches for her camera. She has photographed in North Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, Maryland, the New England states, Canada, Hawaii and in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.

In 2007, she entered some of her work in a photo contest at the Bloomsburg Fair. Her photograph titled "Marley's Barn" won first place in the landscape division and another work titled "Bird House" took second in the object division. The following year she won again with a first place finish in the biological division for her work titles "Butterfly on Cornflower" and another second place finish in both the object and landscape divisions for "Richard's Hay Rake" and "Sun Reflection on Snow," respectively.

What began as a childhood hobby has become so much more for Renn. The public is welcome to view her work in the lobby of the Independence Street branch of Susquehanna Bank from now until the end of the month.
