Fire company grants available
HARRISBURG - Fire companies and volunteer ambulance services throughout the state are encouraged by state Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver, R-108, to submit an application for the 2013-14 Fire Company, Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program.
Applications are due Oct. 24. Grant money may be used for construction or renovation of a unit's station, the purchase or repair of equipment, training or debt reduction.
Last year, area fire and ambulance organizations in Northumberland and Snyder counties received hundreds of thousands in funding from the program, which was created by the General Assembly as Act 10 of 2007. The program is funded through state gaming proceeds.
