MANDATA - The Line Mountain School Board on Tuesday unanimously approved a new Act 93 agreement involving most administrators.
Retroactive to July 1 and effective through June 30, 2018, the agreement changes the salary increases from a guaranteed percentage raise to raises based on performance. If Act 93 employees are evaluated at the end of the year as distinguished, they will receive a raise of $2,500. If they are evaluated as proficient, it will be $1,500. If they are evaluated as unsatisfactory or in need of improvement, the employees will not see a salary increase that year.
The next potential raise will be July 1.
Early retirement incentives were also removed. In the previous agreement, the district paid $50,000 over five years.
The agreement increases the life insurance plan from $200,000 to $250,000.
Board President Troy Laudenslager said there are fewer risks for the district and more reassurance for administrators' families with the new agreement.
There were no other changes to benefits, he said.
Act 93 employees include Keith Harro, network administrator; high school Principal Jeffrey Roadcap; elementary school Principal Jeanne Menko; dean of students/athletic director Jeffrey Lagerman; director of special education Amy Dunn; school psychologist David Makowski and director of plant and operations Timothy Lagerman.
District mishaps
Also Tuesday night, Superintendent Dave Campbell detailed what he described as a few minor mishaps occuring since the first day of school, Aug. 28, related to construction. They have been or will be dealt with soon, he said.
At the new middle school wing in Mandata, the climate control was not working in several rooms for a few days. When it started working in those rooms, it stopped working in the older rooms in the middle school section.
Campbell said the climate control situation has been fixed.
Also, new ceiling tiles in the middle school were not installed for the start of school, but will be this week, he said.
Water fountains for the fifth- and sixth-grade in the new wing are not yet installed, and students are allowed to carry water bottles until they are, Campbell said.
With new bus runs, there were two incidents: one child was on the wrong bus and another child was thought to be on the wrong bus, Campbell said.
There are four bus routes that are an hour or longer, and the administration is working to shorten those runs.
In other business:
- The appraisal from Real Estate Appraisal and Marketing Associates, Sunbury, for the former elementary schools at Leck Kill and Dalmatia, which were both closed as a part of the consolidation plan, will be updated in October.
- The board approved the renewal of the Study Island and Reading Eggs program for all grades with Edmentum, Minneapolis, Minn., at a cost of $14,633.
- The board approved a change order in the amount of $2,409.75 in relation to the addition project in Mandata.
