The Trevorton Senior Action Center held its monthly meeting at the center on Thursday, Sept. 5. The president, Edwina Savidge, opened the meeting with prayer and Pledge of Allegiance and called the meeting to order. There were 13 members present along with representative from the Area Agency on Aging, Theresa McCabe.
The secretary report of the last meeting was read by Secretary Wanda Heath and approved. The treasurer report was read and approved by Savidge due to the resignation of Treasurer Bob Seger. A motion was made to pay bills for the month and was seconded.
A Travel Committee financial report was given by Joyce Koppen, and Judie Urick gave a report on upcoming trips for both the senior center and the Patsies.
The center has been contacted by the Zerbe Township Recreational Committee to participate in the fall festival to be held at the Foundry on Oct. 5. Members agreed to do some theme baskets. The rain date for the festival will be Oct. 12.
The fall dinner dance/Halloween party will be held at 5 p.m. Oct. 23. Tickets are available at the center on a first-come/first-served basis. Cost of the evening banquet and entertainment is $15. The event will be at Massers Banquet Hall and van service will be provided.
The center's anniversary banquet will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12. Anyone interested in helping set up is asked to contact Diana, the manager.
Rep. Kurt Masser's office will set up a weekly satellite office at the center from 9 to 11 a.m. starting Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Members' birthday party will be held Sept. 20 and will feature a covered dish. Birthday members are asked to bring a cake or dessert.
A van will be provided for the Bloomsburg Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 23 if enough members are interested. This is senior citizen day, so admission is free to all seniors.
The VNA will hold a flu clinic on Sept. 25. Remember to bring your insurance cards for billing purposes.
Blood pressure screening will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 27 at the center.
Theresa commented on our recent hoagie sale and had good reports. She also spoke on the dinner/dance and informed members that a newsletter from the county will be published soon.
Rent rebate papers are still available because of the extension and fuel assistance papers can be obtained also at the Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Members are encouraged to come up with new and exciting activities at the center. Anyone with ideas is asked to contact Diana or any of the officers.
