Constitution Day Luncheon set
SUNBURY - The annual Constitution Day Luncheon for the North Central Region chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will be held at noon Saturday at the Edison Hotel, 401 Market St.
The special guest speaker will be Dr. Michele DeMary, a political science professor from Susquehanna University, who will be discussing the 100th anniversary of the 1913 Women's Suffrage March on Washington and its influence in passing the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.
DAR is expecting at least 60 people for the event, and those attending will be wearing big 1910s era hats and "Votes for Women" sashes. There will be a display of vintage, original suffrage collectibles and books.
A video set to Lady Gaga music (the words are about suffrage) will be shown, and they will have door prizes and a best hat prize. The decorating is all in the colors of the suffrage movement (yellow, purple and white).
