SHAMOKIN - Four students from Welch Art Studios Shamokin Studio won awards for their artwork at the recent Susquehanna Art Society Juried Show, held at the Degenstein Community Library in Sunbury.
Awards were presented at the opening reception on Aug. 12. Some students competed in an associated show held in conjunction with the juried show, the "Deeds of Peace" competition, which was intended to honor members of the military past and present. The competition was sponsored by the Slifer House in Lewisburg.
Winners:
Susquehanna Art Society Awards - Logan Carpenter, of Sunbury, first place in watercolor, student division, for his "Horses in the Rain," and Abbey Noll, of Shamokin, first place in pen and ink, student division, for her "Siamese Cat."
Deeds of Peace Awards - Lauren Noll, of Shamokin, first place in mixed media, student division, for her "Fireworks over House," and Alaina Glowatski, of Kulpmont, honorable mention in acrylic, student division, for her "Flag Heart."
