Tax dollar fraud can be reported
SUNBURY - Northumberland County Controller Tony Phillips announced the creation of an E-Taxpayer Hotline, where citizens can report waste, fraud, abuse or mismanagement of tax dollars by a county department or agency.
Residents can access the hotline at www.norrycopa.net and choose the "report fraud" tab.
Citizens can remain anonymous or enter contact information. Questions regarding programs or funds not under the jurisdiction of the controller will be referred to the appropriate entity. All information received through the hotline will be kept confidential.
The electronic hotline is operated through the already existing county website and will have no additional cost to the county taxpayer.
Controller Phillips said he values taxpayers' input regarding the spending of their tax dollars and sees this program as another layer of fiscal protection for the residents of this county.
