SHAMOKIN - The following hearings took place Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court Sept. 23 in Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n Eric M. Maurer, 27, of 543 Main St., Ranshaw, pleaded guilty to criminal mischief and was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs. Charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property were withdrawn.
Maurer was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with stealing two drinks from Turkey Hill Minit Market on Lincoln Street on June 8.
n Geoffrey Koser, 27, of 615 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, waived to court multiple charges involving four criminal complaints.
Koser was charged by Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, theft and receiving stolen property in connection with the theft of a cash register and $121.26 from B&L Chevrolet along Route 61 on Feb. 28. He also is accused of causing approximately $1,000 in damage at the car dealership.
Koser was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Bryan Primerano with possession of drug paraphernalia involving a March 1 incident at his apartment.
He was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Chad Yoder with retail theft for allegedly stealing several CDs and DVDs at Walmart Supercenter on Route 61.
The defendant was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Nathan Rhodes with possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct in connection with a July 24 disturbance at his apartment building.
n Fred Stankiewicz, 52, of 1329 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving relating to a Nov. 25 traffic stop at Fifth and Arch streets.
Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle filed the charges.
n Kaitlyn Jurewicz, 18, of 427 Center St., Tharptown, waived to court three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, underage drinking and driving with alcohol in his system while being a minor.
The charges filed by Coal Township Patrolman Edward Purcell relate to a June 2 incident in the first patch of Bear Valley.
n Frank M. Bogus, 52, of 1011 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, waived to court charges of indecent exposure and open lewdness.
Bogus was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with masturbating in Shamokin Cemetery on June 6.
n Brad D. Latshaw, 40, of 1207 N. Pearl St., Shamokin, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive in a single lane, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.
The charges filed Trooper Nicholas Berger of state police at Stonington involve a May 11 vehicle stop on Route 61 in front of the state police barracks.
n Taylor Dettrey, 26, of 20 N. Diamond St., Shamokin, waived to court six counts each of burglary and theft, and one count of possession of Suboxone in connection with six burglaries at the residence of Brenda Pomponio, 120 W. Chestnut St., between March 1 and May 18.
The charges were filed by Shamokin Patrolman William Zalinski.
n Emily Engle, 21, of 45 S. Fifth St., Apt. 4, Shamokin, pleaded guilty to harassment and was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs. An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.
Engle was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Chad Yoder with punching her ex-boyfriend, Robert Forry, in the right eye, causing swelling. Police said the assault occurred April 24 at 1204 Tharp St., Tharptown.
n Robert M. Smoogen, 56, of 1027 E. Race St., Coal Township, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving.
Smoogen was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle in connection with a two-vehicle accident in the first block of North Second Street.
n Rudy Frazier, 48, of 111 S. Pearl St., Shamokin, was held for court on charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and failure of disorderly persons to disperse relating to a July 1 disturbance outside his home.
The charges were filed by Shamokin Patrolman William Miner.
n Stanley A. Zelinski, 51, of 50 Sheridan St., Coal Township, waived to court charges of driving under the influence and hit and run involving a March 23 accident in the 1400 block of Pulaski Avenue.
Coal Township Patrolman Chris Lapotsky filed the charges.
n Joey Allen Aikey, 31, of 4 Upper Mulberry St., Danville, waived to court charges of theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass.
Aikey was charged by Trooper Nicholas Berger of state police at Stonington with attempting to steal $250 worth of aluminum June 4 from Stoneroad Iron and Metal in Shamokin Township.
