5 graduate from Five Star program

SUNBURY - Addressing classmates, teachers, parents and guests, graduating senior Danielle Morris quoted "Oh the Places You'll Go," by Dr. Seuss at the Five Star graduation ceremony.

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose," quoted Morris who was selected by her classmates as the student speaker.

Terri Locke, program director, congratulated the five graduates and challenged them to pursue their dreams.

Joan Williams of the Ronald McDonald House encouraged the students to give back to their communities and to do something good for others.

Throughout the school year, Five Star students volunteer to clean the playroom at the Ronald McDonald House in Danville, and earn the privilege to attend based on their positive behavior.

Students who attend the program in Sunbury receive a certificate for completion, and participate in commencement ceremonies at their home school districts. Graduates were presented a copy of "Oh the Places You'll Go."

Students were also recognized for behavior and academic achievements.

A specialized emotional support program, Five Star incorporates positive behavior supports and real-life experiences for children and adolescents from sixth through 12th grades. The program provides education and treatment for students to return to their home schools.
