Paving projects set for next week
SHAMOKIN - The city will begin its 2013 bituminous paving project, weather permitting, starting Monday. The following streets are set for paving:
Marshall Street from Arch to Birch, Birch to Elm, Elm to Church, Church to Spurzheim, Chestnut to High and Chestnut to Arch; Lombard Street from Chestnut to Webster; Cherry Street from Chestnut to Race and from Webster Street to the bottom of the hill; Clay Street from Cherry to Vine; Webster Street from Vine to Pearl; Pearl Street from Webster to Race, and Anthracite Street from Chestnut to Arch.
Streets will be posted, and residents are asked to move their vehicles. Any vehicles not moved will be towed at the owner's expense.
St. Patrick Church festival set
TREVORTON - The 16th annual "Neon Nights" St. Patrick Church summer festival will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, and Saturday, Aug. 10. The picnic features delicious ethnic food, games, free entertainment, prizes and fun.
Entertainment:
Friday: from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, B-98.3 Big Country Variety "live" radio broadcast, and from 7 to 10 p.m., "The New Individuals," music from the '60s and '70s, oldies and classic rock 'n' roll.
Saturday: from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Matt Plever Band, country music.
Following Saturday's entertainment, drawings will be held for winners of the theme basket raffle and three cash prizes.
