SELINSGROVE - Joshua Druckenmiller, of Paxinos, was one of nine music majors from Susquehanna University who recently completed a 10-day chamber music residency alongside Japanese students at Niigata University, on Japan's west coast.
A Window to Japan, which included travel to Tokyo and Sado Island in the Sea of Japan, is part of the university's Global Opportunities program. Participating students interact with fellow chamber musicians to learn about life in Japan. Following the chamber ensemble recital that completes the residency, students spent six days exploring Japan's culture and history, staying at traditional Japanese inns and enjoying hot spring baths and local, seasonal foods.
Druckenmiller is a senior music performance major, with a vocal emphasis. A 2010 graduate of Shamokin Area Middle/High School, he is a son of Robert and Diana Druckenmiller.
