SHAMOKIN - The following hearings took place Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court June 24 in Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n Donald J. Ponatoski, 27, of 1128 W. Gowen St., Shamokin, waived to court charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.
Ponatoski was charged by Trooper Samuel Edwards of state police at Stonington with breaking into two storage garages at 380 Badman Hill Road in Shamokin Township in October and stealing copper and steel wire, concrete forms and a copper radiator owned by Leonard Adams. Police said Ponatoski also damaged two padlocks during the burglary.
n Jason J. McCormick, 31, of 830 Lott St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months.
An additional charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was withdrawn.
McCormick was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Darwin Tobias III in connection with a Dec. 2 incident at Market and Commerce streets.
n Charges of simple assault and harassment filed against Jared Seedor, 29, of 1316 W. Willow St., Coal Township, were withdrawn due to insufficient evidence.
Seedor was charged by Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan with assaulting Eric Baskin on Feb. 28 at State and Bay streets.
n Erica Kenenitz, 24, of Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for 12 months.
Charges of unsworn falsification to authorities and false reports were withdrawn.
Kenenitz was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Joshua Wynn with falsely implicating a person committing a violation against her minor child. Police said Kenenitz made the false report April 4.
n Francis R. Sobol, 55, of Green Springs, Ohio, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to possess a registration card, failure to notify police of a change of name or address, failure to drive in a single lane, a turn signal violation, depositing waste or other material on a highway, careless driving and a seat belt violation.
The charges were filed by Trooper Mark Adams of state police at Stonington in connection with a traffic stop on Route 901 near Excelsior on April 7.
n Neil Allen Haddock, 28, of 834 W. Willow St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs and make restitution of $127.89 to Rick Catino. He also was placed on supervised probation for 12 months.
Additional charges of criminal trespass, criminal mischief and loitering and prowling at night were withdrawn.
Haddock was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Bryan Primerano with breaking into the residence of his former girlfriend, Cassandra Catino, of 120 Academy St., at about 12:30 a.m. May 8 before being detained in the upstairs area by Catino's current boyfriend, Shadi Abuomar, until police arrived and took him into custody.
Police said Haddock threatened Catino and Abuomar and caused damage to the front door of the home.
