Optical clinic to make local stops
SHAMOKIN - North Western PA Optical Clinic is a privately funded program that provides income to eligible persons with eye glasses for a low of cost of $40. This includes lined bifocals. No-lines are available at an additional cost. The clinic also offers a solid tint. Income guidelines are for one person $21,032, two people $27,992 and increases by $6,960 for each additional person in the household. On June 4, the clinic will be at Central Susquehanna Opportunities, 2 Arch St., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and at Sunbury CareerLink, 225 Market St., Sunbury, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. You will need your prescription and an appointment. Call 1-800-901-1912 for give information and schedule appointments. All frames are all brand new and donated from the manufacturers.
New plates available for veterans
HARRISBURG - Members and veterans who served with an airborne unit or as a World War II Merchant Marine can now display their service with new license plates available from PennDOT.
Veterans and military personnel interested in these new plates can go to www.dmv.state.pa.us, and select the "Military License Plates" link under the "Military Personnel/Veterans" Information Center. A complete listing of available military license plates can also be found on this page. The page provides images of each plate and links to the appropriate application form.
Those requesting a WW II Merchant Marine plate must fill out a Form MV-150W, "World War II Era U.S. Military Registration."
In addition to these plates, PennDOT offers a variety of license plates, including those honoring individuals who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces and in major conflicts from World War II to Operation Enduring Freedom.
