DANVILLE - An Elysburg woman riding in a car that flipped and came to rest pinned between two other vehicles on Route 61 in Weigh Scales Monday was listed in serious condition Tuesday at Geisinger Medical Center, a nursing supervisor reported.

Evelyn Klemanski, who was a front seat passenger in a red Chevrolet Malibu, was trapped in the wreckage for about 25 minutes before she was freed. Her husband, Charles Klemanski Jr., 72, who was driving, also needed to be extricated. He was hospitalized at Geisinger as well until his release Tuesday night.

Police said Mr. Klemanski was driving north when he attempted to turn left into the parking lot at Masser's Wayside Inn. He drove into the path of a white Ford Escort driven south by April Slavinsky, of Shamokin. Upon impact, Klemanski's car flipped several times along the highway before being pushed by the front of the Escort into a truck driven by Dan Shingara, 48, of Irish Valley, who was stopped at a stop sign.
