77 fatal crashes on local roads last year

- Fatalities on state and municipal roads in PennDOT District 3-0 (consisting of Bradford, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga and Union counties): 2007: 70

2008: 84

2009: 66

2010: 105

2011: 78

2012 (unofficial): 77

- Category of accidents: hit fixed object, 36; head-on, 19; intersection/angle, 5, pedestrian, 6; rollover, 3; wrong way, 1; hit deer, 1: hit by train, 1.

- 72 fatal crashes resulted in 77 fatalities; five crashes were double fatalities.

- Seven fatal crashes involved large trucks, resulting in eight deaths; seven were caused by a smaller vehicle.

- 18 of the 72 fatal crashes (25 percent) involved driving under the influence, resulting in 19 deaths. 11 drivers killed were DUI - two had alcohol and drugs. Eight people were killed by someone else who was DUI, One drunk driver also had marijuana and opiates in system.

Fatalities by county:

Bradford - 14 on state roads, 1 on municipal roads, 3 DUI-related deaths, and 3 involving large trucks.

Columbia - 6 on state roads, 3 on municipal roads, and 2 DUI-related deaths.

Lycoming - 14 on state roads, 1 on municipal roads, and 5 DUI-related deaths.

Montour - no fatalities reported

Northumberland - 8 on state roads, 1 on municipal roads, 3 DUI-related deaths, and 2 involving large trucks.

Snyder - 8 on state roads.

Sullivan - 2 on state roads, 2 DUI-related deaths and 1 involving large trucks.

Tioga - 10 on state roads and 2 DUI-related deaths.

Union - 9 on state roads, 3 DUI-related deaths and 1 involving large trucks.
