Car flips on Rt. 54
BEAR GAP - Randy Kale, 21, of Elysburg, escaped serious injury when his car flipped onto its roof on Route 54 near the top of the Natalie Mountain between Natalie and Bear Gap shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday.
Kale told police he was driving south when a deer darted in front of his vehicle. He swerved to miss the deer but lost control and the vehicle went off the western berm and flipped.
Kale was on his way to work at Lowes in Pottsville when the crash occurred, authorities said.
He suffered lacerations and abrasions on his face and arm and underwent treatment at the scene by Elysburg paramedics.
Mount Carmel Township police investigated, and Natalie, Kulpmont and Ralpho Township firefighters responded.
Theft from vehicle
ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Angela Dye, 30, of Mifflinburg, reported to state police at Stonington that sometime between 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday, someone entered her vehicle while it was parked at 4951 State Route 890, and removed $250 in cash.

Money stolen
PENN TOWNSHIP - Patricia Mae Bingaman, of Sunbury, informed state police at Selinsgrove that sometime between 3 and 8:35 p.m. Friday, someone removed $145 from her lunch box while she was at the Selinsgrove Center.

Sobriety checkpoint
Troopers from Troop F, which consists of the barracks in Stonington, Milton and Selinsgrove, will continue to conduct sobriety checkpoints along state or local highways in Northumberland County throughout April.
The sobriety checkpoint is part of a statewide DUI checkpoint strike force initiative. The checkpoint involves briefly checking vehicles for operators who are impaired by alcohol and or controlled substances.
