MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court May 20 in Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n Thomas J. Boylan, 18, of 827 Scott St., Kulpmont, pleaded guilty to theft and was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for 12 months. An additional charge of receiving stolen property was withdrawn.
Boylan was charged by Kulpmont Patrolman Shane Reamer with stealing money from his mother, Kathleen Boylan, on Feb. 24 at their house.
n Charges of deceptive business practices, theft by deception and receiving stolen property filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Joshua Pastucka against Ray Vincenzes, 50, of 824 Pine St., Kulpmont, were withdrawn when the defendant paid $700 restitution to the victims, Joan and Stanley Daniels, of 1225 Scott St., Kulpmont.
Vincenzes, who was ordered to pay $107.67 in constable fees, was charged with failing to repair a sidewalk after receiving a $700 deposit for the work.
