MOUNT CARMEL - Christine Maschal, of 504 E. Avenue, a Democrat, is a candidate for Mount Carmel Borough Council.
Maschal, who was born and raised in Mount Carmel, is a 1986 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School. She has been married to Mark Maschal for 18 years, and has two sons, Marcus, 17, and Adam, 14.
She has been employed at the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kulpmont for 11 years, serving as steward/bar manager for the last nine years.

"I have directed disabled veterans or their spouses to the proper channels when they've had questions or needed assistance regarding veterans' benefits."
Maschal described herself as "open-minded, trustworthy, honest and reliable" and promised she will always take the time to listen.
"If elected, I will work hard for the people of Mount Carmel," she said. "I have the time and commitment for the position. I will not make promises I cannot keep. I will make every effort to keep taxes at their current levels, maintain transparency and, most importantly, make the tough, but right, decisions in the best interest of our community."
