University of Southern California mental health/military social work

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Matthew David Sejuit, a son of Walter and Mary Sejuit, of 1023 W. Willow St., Coal Township, graduated from The University of Southern California with his master's in social work with a concentration in mental health and a sub-concentration in military social work in December 2012.

Sejuit, a credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselor-trainee (CASAC-T) has also passed his licensing exam and is now a licensed master social worker (LMSW) in New York.

After spending six years in the Navy as a corpsman, including two deployments to Iraq and an honorable discharge, he earned an associate's degree in letters, arts and sciences at Penn State University.

He was named a Chancellor Scholar for Syracuse University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in psychology and was inducted into Alpha Chi Sigma chemistry fraternity and Beta Beta Beta biology honor society.

While attending The University of Southern California, Sejuit, an alumnus of the Theta Psi chapter of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, served as chapter advisor to the Zeta Omicron chapter of Pi Kappa Phi at SUNY-Cortland.

He currently works as a chemical dependency therapist at Brightpath Counseling and as a therapy aide at Crouse Hospital-Crouse Chemical Dependency Treatment Services in the opioid treatment program, both in Syracuse, N.Y.
