LEWISBURG - The Bucknell University Solar Scholars will present a "Renewable Energy Workshop" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27.
Topics will include the latest developments in renewable energy technology, concentrating solar power and fuels, how energy monitoring can illustrate energy demands, and how renewable energy technology such as solar photovoltaic, solar thermal and small-scale wind power can be integrated into homes and businesses.
Registration is required because seating is limited. The registration fee is $15 if received on or before Friday; after Friday, the registration fee is $25. Lunch will be provided for all registered participants. Go to http://www.bucknell.edu/x20303.xml to print the registration form.
The morning session of the workshop will be held in the dining room of Larison Hall on St. George Street. Speakers are Stephen Durfee, Bucknell energy manager; Peter Jansson, professional engineer and associate professor of electrical engineering; Nate Siegel, assistant professor of mechanical engineering; and Susan Mondlak Fenske, Friedman Electric's experienced solar specialist, who directs the company's Renewable Energy department.
After lunch, participants may view displays of a biomass steam engine, solar concentrator, soda can solar heater, photovoltaic arrays, wind turbine, solar water heater, solar pathfinder, and more at the Bucknell University Environmental Center, 835 Fraternity Road, and at Bucknell West, west of Route 15 near the sports complex.
A limited number of 2'x6' vendor tables are available. The reservation fee for a table is $25 and must be received on or before Friday.

The Bucknell Solar Scholars are dedicated to educating the University community and the public about the benefits of solar energy technology. The University maintains three photovoltaic arrays obtained through grants from the Sustainable Energy Fund's Solar Scholars Program.
Bucknell hosted its first Solar Scholars workshop in August 2006, which resulted in the installation of a 2.5 kilowatt solar array that serves as a power source for the Bucknell University Environmental Center. Two more arrays, with a combined capacity of 3.2 kW, were installed in April 2007 at Bucknell's Mods student housing. Real-time solar energy data is available at http://linux.bucknell.edu/~altenergy/
