COAL TOWNSHIP - No serious injuries were reported in a three-vehicle crash Monday night in the 1000 block of West Mulberry Street.

Coal Township Police said Jarrad Mariano, 33, of 1212 W. Fern St., Coal Township, was driving west in a Volkswagen Passat shortly after 9 p.m. when he rear-ended a double-parked Toyota Highlander owned by Kathy James, of 1041 W. Mulberry St.

After impact, the Passat drifted backward about 20 yards and collided with a parked Honda CRV owned by Kathy Fanella, of 1027 W. Mulberry St.

A passenger in James' vehicle, Tina Katalinas, 48, of Kulpmont, suffered minor injuries but did not seek treatment at the scene, police said, and no one else was injured.

Mariano was transported to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township, for blood testing, police said, and charges are pending the results of an investigation.
