WYOMISSING - A young girl with ties to the area is starting to make her mark in the acting world with appearances in commercials and a pilot for NBC.
Mya Wascavage, of Wyomissing, is a daughter of John Wascavage, a 1989 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School, and a granddaughter of John and Cynthia Wascavage, Shady Acres, Kulpmont. According to her father, the 10-year-old had the idea to do TV commercials last year, and was professionally trained in acting in Philadelphia last summer.
Since then, Mya has filmed a bowling commercial that will air on Nickelodeon in the spring, has auditioned for a Mercedes-Benz commercial and recently filmed a scene for a new NBC pilot entitled "The Blacklist."
In a Hollywood Reporter article on the show, "The Blacklist" stars James Spader, known for his roles in various movies and TV shows, as a wanted spy who turns himself in and offers to give up his connections to the FBI, but only if he can work with a new FBI agent, played by Megan Boone, who recently was part of the cast of CBS's "Blue Bloods."
Wascavage will be part of a zoo scene when the episode airs on the network.
She is managed by talent agents in New Jersey and the Expressions Model and Talent Agency in Malvern. Her professional portfolios can be viewed at www.expressionsmodels.com/myaw76 and www.nycastings.com/myaw76.
